The Welcome Committee at Centro de Química Estrutural (CQE) is the central service point for the initial integration of new and visiting students and researchers. We offer practical support so that you get off to a good start in this new experience. During your entire stay, we will be happy to answer any questions you may have about working at CQE, and we cordially invite you to participate in our events.

Within this guide, you will find the initial information regarding the history of the Centre, its mission, the guidelines, and the main infrastructures.

At CQE, your contribution to address the biggest scientific, technological, and societal challenges to create a better and more sustainable world will be valuable and will continue the tradition of Excellence of this Centre.

Our mission

Centro de Química Estrutural (CQE) is a Research Unit of the University of Lisbon (ULisboa) with sites at Instituto Superior Técnico (IST) and Faculdade de Ciências (FCUL). It is the largest Research Unit of Chemistry of ULisboa, covering a broad and interdisciplinary group of areas within the scope of Chemistry.

CQE's general mission concerns the strengthening of the contribution of Chemistry to the welfare of Society through high-level Research, Development, Innovation, Transfer of Knowledge, Advanced Training and Teaching activities, building-up scientific and technological skills in both fundamental and oriented/applied research in science and engineering.

CQEDays - This annual meeting from all groups from CQE intends to show the research being developed within the center and also to further strengthen the collaboration between groups.

ChemForum - Is, by definition, the event to promote chemistry ideas, and discuss chemical relevant topics presented by experts in their field. 

Science in a cup - It’s the event intended for your chemistry ideas, to discuss chemical problems, ask for help with scientific chemistry questions and inspire others by your chemistry vision. And sharing a cup of coffee or tea at the same time.

 

Science in a Cup - December 2021

On the 10th of December, the Welcome Committee welcomed the 18 new PhD students at CQE (2021 4th quarter) sponsored by FCT and CQE: Ana Cristina Banha, Beatriz Martins, Bruna Soares, Carina Fialho, César Reis, Cláudia Ribeiro, Diogo Gonçalves, Henrique Zilhão, Hugo Lapa, Inês Feliciano, Inês Ferreira, Joana Costa, Joana Martinho, João Afonso, João Portel, Luís Correia, Maria Carolina Sequeira e Pedro Rosado. We wish them the best of luck for this new adventure in their lifes, hoping to hear their sucesses real soon!!!
