Project description

The development of innovative nanomaterials requires target and accurate designs of biomaterials, using disruptive approaches to answer the requirements of emerging research area as that of nanomedicine. In this PhD theme, the main goal is the design of new nanoparticles (NPs) with regenerative capabilities. For that purpose, the fabrication and development of smart nanoparticles with bioactive agents, aiming to trigger specific biological responses and enhance the therapeutical out-put towards tissue regeneration will be pursued. By combining bioactive agents on NPs a smart response towards a regenerative path will be induced. The big challenge will be a two-way study for the iterative investigation and design for more efficient materials for nanomedicine. The execution of this proposal is composed by 3 major tasks: (i) design of particles at the nanoscale level with bioactive agents; (ii) physicochemical characterization; (iii) in vitro response (optional – in collaboration with other institutions).
