Abstract |
Hydrothermal reaction of cadmium iodide (CdI2) and 1,3-di(4-pyridyl)propane (dpp) results in the formation of the 2-D coordination polymer [Cd-2(mu-ddp)(4)I-4](n)(1) where the Cd(II) ions assume octahedral I(2)N(4)geometries. The dpp ligands adoptanti-anti(TT) andgauche-gauche (GG ) conformations. Thermogravimetric analysis reveals that1decomposes in two steps comprising dissociation of one dpp ligand followed by complete decomposition of the framework corresponding to the remaining three dpp ligands and iodides. Polymer1is luminescent at 386 nm. |
