Functional Materials Chemistry

The MATChem thematic line focuses on the rational design of new chemical strategies and methodologies for the development of Functional Materials with improved/novel properties. It pursues a fit-to-purpose strategy based on materials and hybrid materials with organic/inorganic building blocks, covering a wide range of architectures and length scales. These new materials will have an impact in vital strategic areas for Europe, addressing SDG issues by developing novel solutions for health and medical care, energy transition, and clean water. These research vectors are framed within the Advanced Materials 2030 initiative and the Materials Roadmap 2030, which address priority topics for the European Union.
