Thematic Line
Medicinal and Biological Chemistry for Health
– MEDLife –
MEDLife is a multidisciplinary thematic line which seeks to discover new medicines, understanding molecular mechanisms of disease and toxicity, and promoting the clinical validation of early disease and therapy biomarkers. MEDLife’s research focuses on multiple interrelated points: (1) developing new therapeutic agents for major diseases of the 21st century, such as cancer, multi-drug-resistant infections, and neurodegenerative diseases; (2) elucidating the relationship between molecule structure and biological function/activity; (3) validating early biomarkers using mass spectrometry and other advanced analytical tools; and (4) studying signalling pathways and biochemical regulation.
