On the 1st of June we’ll have a talk by Dr. Anthony Burke from Universidade de Évora. Anthony J. Burke obtained a BSc (joint honours in Chemistry & Biology, 1988) from NUI-Maynooth and a PhD from University College Dublin, Ireland (1993, supervisors –W. Ivo. O’Sullivan and DMX Donnelly). Prof. Teresa Duarte was awarded a Senior Visiting Fellowship at IAS, Bologna

Prof. Teresa Duarte was last year awarded a Senior Visiting Fellowship at the Institute of Advanced Studies of the Alma Mater Studiorum University of Bologna. During her stay she will have the opportunity to meet other colleagues in the College of Excellence, as well as the selected PhD students enrolled by the Institute. Dra. Ana Petronilho will be the next Chemforum speaker

On  Wednesday, May the 10th, we’ll have a talk by Dra. Ana Petronilho, from ITQB. Ana Petronilho graduated in Chemistry in 2004, from Instituto Superior Técnico. In 2005, she joined the group of Prof. E. Carmona at the University of Seville, to initiate her PhD studies. Her work dealt with synthetic methodologies for C-H activation of pyridines with iridium complexes to form N-heterocyclic carbenes (NHCs). Dr. Vasco Bonifácio will be the next Chemforum speaker

On  Wednesday, April the 5th, we’ll have a talk by Dr. Vasco Bonifácio, from CQFM, IST. Dr. Vasco Bonifácio graduated in Chemical Engineering and Applied Chemistry, and received his PhD in Organic Chemistry in 2006. After a post-doc in Germany he was appointed Assistant Researcher of MIT Portugal and invited Assistant Professor at FCT/UNL. He recently moved to IST, where he is a CQFM Researcher and also an invited Assistant Professor. He was a Visiting Researcher at MIT and Bordeaux University. On Wednesday, March the 22nd, we’ll have a talk by Dr. Maria João Ferreira, from CQE. M.J. Ferreira (MJF) graduated in Chemical Engineering, with specialization in Applied Chemistry, from IST in 1998. She worked in the Laboratory of Organometallic Chemistry (IST) as a Research Assistant (1999-2001) and as a PhD student (2001- 2006) with Prof. A.M. Martins where she synthesized and studied the reactivity of Ti and Zr complexes. On Thursday, March the 9th, we’ll have a talk by Dr. Barbara Milani from the University of Trieste. Barbara Milani was born in 1965; she received the Master degree in Chemistry, cum laude, in 1989 at the University of Trieste (Italy). In 1994 she obtained the PhD in Chemical Sciences at the University of Trieste under the supervision of Prof. Giovanni Mestroni.
