Celebrating CQE’s 40th anniversary

The celebrations concern the coinage of a medal, the presentation of  invited lectures and a symposium with alumni (November 2016), as well as a few celebratory publications, including biographies of Prof. Fraústo da Silva (the founder of CQE) and of  Prof. Herculano de Carvalho (the founder of the precursor Centre), the history of CQE, the history of the Laboratório de Análises, etc.            Read more

Dr. Luís Alves is the next Chemforum speaker

On November the 9th we’ll have a talk by Dr. Luís Alves from CQE, IST. Luis Alves (1983) obtained his MSc in chemistry at IST-UTL, Portugal, in 2007 with the experimental work conducted at TUWien, Austria, under supervision of Prof. Karl Kirchner. The PhD in chemistry was obtained in 2012 at IST-UTL, Portugal, under supervision of Prof. Ana Martins. A short-stay in the group of Prof. Nuno Maulide at the Max-Planck Institut für Kohlenforschung, Germany, led to the PhD degree with European Honors. Dra Sónia Carabineiro will be the next Chemforum speaker

On October, the 26th we’ll have a talk by Dra. Sonia Carabineiro from FEUP. Sónia Carabineiro completed her Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering in 2001 at Universidade Nova de Lisboa. Later she was a postdoctoral researcher (2001-2003) at Leiden University (The Netherlands) and at Instituto Superior Técnico (2004-2007). On December 2007 she joined the University of Porto as an Assistant Researcher, becoming Principal Researcher since December 2013. She has been working mostly in catalysis by gold, (mixed) metal oxides, carbon materials and composites, heterogenisation of homogenous complexes on heterogeneous supports.
