The HidroQapa project, a waterproof bioplastic made from chitosan extracted from shrimp shell waste, won the 1st Innovation in Health Award – All for Sustainability on December 4th, in the Environmental Sustainability category. This prestigious award, promoted by the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon in partnership with Sanofi and NTT Data, aims to recognize innovative initiatives that promote sustainable practices in the healthcare sector.
HidroQapa is a project developed by Frederico Mauritty and Madalena de Castro, in collaboration with Professors and Researchers Ana Ribeiro and Luísa Martins from CQE, and Ana Ferraria from iBB. This solution stands out for its versatility and impact in multiple contexts, particularly in the medical sector, where it is used for waterproofing materials that cannot be exposed to water, combining innovation with the promotion of
environmental sustainability.
