Researchers from CQE participated at Encontro Ciência 2025 on July 9, 2025, at the NOVA SBE Campus in Carcavelos. The parallel session entitled “In the era of sustainability and misinformation, Chemistry is the solution.” co-organized by IMS and LAQV-REQUIMTE, was held on the first day of the event!
This roundtable brought together researchers, including Pedro Mendes, working in the fields of chemical engineering and sustainable processes, medicinal chemistry, science education, and science communication. It addressed the transversal and integrative role of Chemistry across key domains such as health, energy, technology, and the environment. With its unique ability to transform knowledge into innovation with positive societal impact, Chemistry also plays a crucial role in demystifying scientific concepts, reinforcing its relevance in building a more informed, resilient, and technologically advanced society.
This was an opportunity to reflect on and discuss the essential contribution of Chemistry in tackling today’s major challenges, from innovation and sustainability to a better-informed society.
