On 16 July 2026, CQE welcomed Prof. Andrey S. Klymchenko for a BTT entitled “Fluorescent Organic Nanoparticles for Biosensing”. Prof. Klymchenko is Director of Research at CNRS and heads the Photoactive Materials and Bioimaging Group at the University of Strasbourg. In his talk, Prof. Klymchenko explored how polymeric fluorescent nanoparticles can serve as versatile platforms for ultrasensitive biosensing. These nanoparticles achieve exceptional brightness by encapsulating large numbers of fluorescent dyes within polymer matrices while controlling their molecular organisation, enabling the detection of nucleic acids, proteins, and other biomolecules. Prof. Klymchenko also presented recent advances in light-harvesting dye nanomaterials, where efficient energy transfer between dyes amplifies fluorescence, enhancing detection sensitivity and opening new opportunities for biosensing and molecular diagnostics.
