The project “ChroniCare: Penso para feridas crónicas com nanopartículas de óxido de zinco (ZnO) produzidas por síntese verde”, developed by 12th-grade students Sofia Alvarez, Rita Amaral, and Carolina Matos from Colégio Valsassina, under the supervision of Professors Ana Paula Serro, Catarina Santos, and Marta Alves, was awarded 3rd place at the Mostra Nacional de Ciência, a competition co-organized by the Fundação da Juventude and pela Ciência Viva – Agência Nacional para a Cultura Científica e Tecnológica.
The students will represent Portugal with this project at the CASTIC – China Adolescents Science & Technology Innovation Contest, one of the largest science competitions in China, taking place in August 2025.
