Biomass is an energy source with great possibility of becoming a sustainable solution due to its ability to be converted into non-petroleum based fuels, fuel additives or chemicals through its liquefaction. The use of ionic liquids in biomass liquefaction is a new possibility for the industrial process. Glycerol-based ionic liquids will be prepared using a microwaves assisted amination without using solvent. After, the liquids will be used in biomass liquefaction and CO2 reduction. The work will be developed using green metrics as a measurement of the improvements during the work. In this work proposal, the use of characterization techniques will be of pivotal importance to promote the development of new processes.
