ZIta Martins leader of Ariel mission

Zita Martins, was appointed by the European Space Agency (ESA) as Community Scientist of the Ariel Science Team. Scheduled to launch in 2029, it is ESA’s first mission comited to measure the chemical composition and thermal structures of hundreds of exoplanets, enabling science to expand beyond the boundaries of the solar system. 

“As a Community Scientist, I will represent the scientific community of Astrobiology and Planetary Sciences internationally, and I will advise ESA on the best way to use the data resulting from the future Ariel space mission”, shares Zita Martins. “It is a huge prestige for me and for Portugal”.
