This partnership, within the scope of the FCT project “Biogeochemistry and the impact of mercury in areas of permafrost degradation” coordinated by João Canário  aims to disseminate Polar Sciences in secondary education, in particular the role of climate change in permanently frozen soil degradation and the consequent release of mercury to boreal ecosystems.
The launch of this partnership was attended by the Minister of Education, João Costa, who sponsored the initiative. During the next two years, several activities of a pedagogical scientific nature will be carried out with students from the 9th and 12th grade.
