Pedro Pinheiro awarded

CQE Researcher Pedro F. Pinheiro has been awarded The Young Medicinal Chemistry Researcher in Portugal 2021 prize by the Division of Medicinal Chemistry of the Portuguese Chemical Society, for his work on the development of “Small organic molecules to trigger the activity of NK cells”.

Pedro is a researcher in the BIOMOL group - Design, synthesis, and toxicology of bioactive molecules, and is currently working on new advanced immunotherapies for cancer treatment. His work encompasses the use of computational tools to design new chemical entities, the characterization of protein targets and their ligands using state-of-the-art mass spectrometry and NMR spectroscopy methodologies, and the development and application of comprehensive biological assays to characterize the activity of new and old molecules.

Pedro will represent the Division of Medicinal Chemistry of SPQ in the 8th EFMC Young Medicinal Chemists' Symposium (EFMC-YMCS) in early September.
