Sample Treatment

Plasma, serum or pelleted cells are retrieved from the inventory and processed following established protocols of proteomics and metabolomics analysis. The data obtained from the high-resolution mass spectrometry analysis is correlated with the sex, age and medication associated with each sample, to try to establish a relation between each parameter and altered levels of certain proteins or metabolites.

Cultured cells can be used in cell expansion procedures to obtain large cell populations for cytotoxicity testing and cell response assays. Cells can also be used to probe the immune effects of new drugs and other chemicals, develop new cell markers and identify cell-specific responses to external stimuli.

Due to the finite nature of primary cultures, cultured cells are not stored after use.
