Sample Collection
Samples are collected by certified professionals. All collections are performed in the nursing service of Serviços de Saúde|Técnico in the Pavilhão de Acção Social (Alameda Campus).
To collect the sample, the nurse will place a small calibre needle in one of your arms, similar to what happens when you donate blood or take a sample for analysis. All the equipment is single-use and sterile. Then, the nurse will adapt up to three collection tubes in sequence, collecting 7.5 mL of blood per tube.
The needle will then be removed, and the tubes transported to the laboratory for immediate processing.
