Abstract A newly developed washcoating method of zeolite-based catalysts onto ceramic cordierite foam yields homogeneous and tightly-adherent coating layer. The modification of foam surface by preliminary treatment in cationic polymer solutions was found to be beneficial for deposition of zeolite washcoating layer with satisfactory quality. This cationic polymer treatment led to enhancement in zeolite loading as high as 100 wt.\% relative to the non-modified foams surface. High loading level up to 20 wt.\% was realized with a single impregnation, which is considered as a remarkable achievement in both economical and technical viewpoints. (C) 2008 Elsevier B.V.
