Abstract Experimental ultrasound speeds were obtained in 30 mixtures of the binary system water + 3-butoxypropan-1-amine, at five temperatures T = (283.15 to 303.15) K and over the entire composition range. Excess molar, apparent molar and partial molar isentropic compressions, including infinite dilution quantities were derived combining density and ultrasound values. The analysis of the results together with the comparison with similar results previously gathered for the system water + 3-ethoxypropan-1-amine (with less two methylene groups) permitted to complement the conclusions already taken embracing the effect of increasing carbon chain length and putting some insight in configuration changes undergone by the 3-butoxypropan-l-amine and pseudo-micelle formation, in the water-rich region.
